Street Wear Brand Jackson JoJaxs® Supports Black Community with 2023 Grant Program
Street wear brand Jackson JoJaxs® has announced the grantees for its 2023 Black Community Commitment program. The program, which supports Black-owned businesses and community organizations, received over 1,000 applications from across the country.
The 2023 grantees include a diverse range of businesses and organizations, from a vintage clothing store in Detroit to a community garden in Atlanta.
Supporting Black-Owned Businesses and Community Organizations
As a Black-owned business itself, Jackson JoJaxs® is committed to supporting and uplifting the Black community. The Black Community Commitment program is just one of the ways the brand is putting its values into action.
"We know that Black-owned businesses and community organizations face unique challenges and obstacles," said Jackson JoJaxs® founder and CEO, Jaxon Jackson. "We want to do our part to help break down those barriers and create a more equitable society for all."
The Importance of Vintage in Black Culture
One of the grantees, a vintage clothing store in Detroit called The Archive, is especially meaningful to the Jackson JoJaxs® team. Vintage clothing has a long history in Black culture, from the zoot suits of the 1940s to the oversized denim jackets of the 1990s.
"Vintage clothing is a way for us to connect with our past and honor the generations that came before us," said Jackson. "We're thrilled to be able to support a business like The Archive that is preserving that history and making it accessible to a new generation."
Looking Ahead
The 2023 Black Community Commitment program is just the beginning for Jackson JoJaxs®. The brand plans to continue its support of the Black community through ongoing partnerships and initiatives.
"We believe in the power of community," said Jackson. "We're excited to see what we can accomplish together."
